Coal Town Rounders

Grafting their passion for Appalachian music and harmony singing to 21st century sensibilities, Northeast Pennsylvania-based quartet Coal Town Rounders occupy a space in time that is distinctly their own. With a foundational repertoire of bluegrass material you’d expect in a group twice their age, the band is poised to expand the reach and relevance of traditional music with their unique and hard-driving sound. Live performances around a single microphone showcase the intensity and dynamic interplay between each member and lend a timeless quality to an old-time approach.

Following the release of ‘Numero Uno,’ their 2013 EP of traditional bluegrass tunes, the band has been well received by audiences throughout its home state of Pennsylvania, the northeast, and stretches of the midwest. They have shared the stage with a range of nationally touring acts including Emmy Lou Harris, Carolina Chocolate Drops, The Lumineers, The Grascals, and The Roys, and with budding groups such as Cabinet, The Tillers, Wood & Wire, and The Barefoot Movement.

Roosevelt Dime

There was a time when Appalachian strings made romance with New Orleans rhythms, a love affair that yielded one of the most infectious beats the world had ever heard. For Roosevelt Dime that time is now. Some would call it Rock & Roll, others Americana, but “Mardi-Grass” is more like it—a bedrock of New Orleans rhythms that brings driving, melodic banjo, fat-back blues guitar, pure honky-tonk harmonies, and deliciously dirty R&B vocals along for the ride—it makes for a groove so inspired the New York Times has called Roosevelt Dime “a perpetual crowd pleaser.”

This musical alchemy is purely American, transforming struggle into celebration, pain into perseverance, and taking the joyous beat from sidewalks and streetcars to backrooms and barrooms, from the ample hills of Brooklyn to the amber waves of grain. The formula is no accident. From their early days performing on the streets of New York City Roosevelt Dime learned what it takes to stop a stranger in their tracks, turn that stranger from a commuter into a listener, and from a listener into an unstoppable sidewalk strutter. Their high energy live shows have thrilled audiences at premier festivals across the country, and countless more have been captivated by the exceptional songwriting on their latest release “Full Head of Steam (2014),” which climbed to #6 on the Folk Charts in New York and #8 nationally. Roosevelt Dime has recently been featured in Relix Magazine, CMT Edge, Performer Magazine, The Bluegrass Situation, and the Alternate Root Magazine.

Caribou Mountain Collective

Caribou Mountain Collective is a quartet from Nederland, Colorado. Their extensive original repertoire channels the rich traditions of both Appalachia and Colorado bluegrass. Their original lyrics and instrumental compositions present unique facets into americana. C.M.C. represents the next step in an ongoing revolution of roots music. Dobro player Allen Cooke was awarded first place at the 2013 Rockygrass dobro competition. Etienne Cremieux, having studied at Berklee College of Music and played extensively on both coasts, brings a decade of bluegrass fiddle experience with a uniquely driving and highly energetic style. Guitarist Miles Perry masterfully embodies the mountain heritage in his catalog of original works. Their instrumental expertise shines through Miles' songs to present a captivating new approach to a classic sound.
