Nat Osborn, “the mastermind behind the suitably named Nat Osborn Band, writes smart, punchy tunes that blend old-school Gershwin-era songcraft with decidedly modern sensibilities.” (Popdose) This Brooklyn based band takes the best elements of soul, funk, indie-rock, and jazz and weaves them around Osborn’s truly infectious and clever songs. The band has recently returned from a three month stint in Europe supporting their April 2015 self-titled EP release on Rope-A-Dope Records. Dave Matthews Band opener and king of funky, spicy and intelligent tunes, The Nat Osborn Band ranges from lush, hypnotic ballads about heartbreak, polyrhythmic Latin-rock, & drunken tangos about destitute desire. Having opened for Dave Matthews Band as well as bandmates having performed with the likes of Paul Simon, Wynton Marsalis, Ludacris, and Marc Broussard, this dream team of a band puts on a uniquely incredible performance with a truly captivating sound.

Stolen Jars

Inspired by acts as diverse as Sufjan Stevens, Elvis Costello, and Dirty Projectors, the music is a vibrant mixture of looping intricate guitar lines and floating melodies all brought to life by a live band featuring Elena Juliano, Connor McGuigan, Matt Marsico and Tristan Rodman. Fitzgerald and Grund are building off the success of Stolen Jars' self-titled album released in 2011. The single off that album, "Driving," was featured in an international Apple iPad commercial and was awarded Song of the Week by Alt Mag. Their sophomore album Kept is decidedly more ambitious. Fitzgerald composed and layered tracks in his bedroom, tinkering to ensure precision. He and Grund then worked together to build vocal melodies around the tracks. When premiering, "Folded Out," the first single from Kept, Wondering Sound wrote, "Cody Fitzgerald and Molly Grund's voices spiral and intertwine . . . flutes dart like fireflies, strings swoop down - what started modest and pretty becomes mighty and bold and imposing." After the release other music bloggers enthusiastically agreed, describing the music, as "exuberant," "sweetly supple," "grand, an anthem."

Noted for her thoughtful, vivid songwriting and engaging stage performance, Hayley has spent the past five years sharing the stage with acts like Tom Rush, Peter Yarrow, Buskin & Batteau, Christine Lavin, and opening for the likes of Lori McKenna, Mark Erelli, and Catie Curtis. She has been selected for official showcases at Folk Alliance International and New England Regional Folk Alliance, as well as The Boston Folk Festival, New York Songwriter's Circle, and Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist Showcase. In 2012, The Boston Globe Magazine named her a Bostonian of the Year for both her music and her work to pair it with a message of teen empowerment. The feature article characterized her as "a confident, radiant teenage singer/songwriter who is helping to pen the next chapter of the Boston folk scene....while Reardon is rapidly making a name for herself under the stage lights, it could be said that she's having a bigger impact on her peers across the country as an effective teen-to-teen ambassador, sought after by schools nationwide.” Upon the release of her latest CD, Wayfindings (Kingswood Records), iTunes Editor's Notes cited “the fact that her music is not American Idol-like pop but in the singer/songwriter tradition of Suzanne Vega, Tracy Chapman, Erin McKeown, and Mary Chapin Carpenter illustrates an already well grounded artist. She sells out concerts and snags rides to them from her parents.”

Joe Larson

Headliner Joe Larson is a NYC based comedian and father of two. He prefers the title of Man With A Baby over Mr. Mom, cuz let's face it - he is no way on par with the mother of his girls. He's assistant manager of his household at best. You may know Joe from babies Behaving Badly on Discover Family. He has also been seen on Gotham Comedy Live, NBC's America's Got Talent, Laughs on FOX, the Tonight Show's Laugh Squad and the Speed Channel. Joe will be joined by Greg Cartin, a New York City based stand up comedian and improviser who spent over 10 years of his professional career in retail banking, enabling him to cultivate his dementia to perfection. Tired of his comedic timing not being fully appreciated in the boardroom, Greg left behind the bank to pursue comedy. Drawing on his experiences as a branch manager, coupled with his adventures as a newlywed, Greg’s comedy reflects the craziness that is now his life. Our host for the night is Linette Palladino, a NYC based comedian. Born and raised in NJ, she made the great move across the Hudson River to attend college at Fordham University. At Fordham, she decided to join ROTC during the height of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars because serving her country seemed way more appealing than dying under the weight of dream-crushing student loans. She spent most of her twenties in third world countries not getting laid in defense of freedom but don’t worry- three engagements later and she has more than made up for lost time. She performs regularly throughout New York City and will soon be taking her talents to the Middle East for deployment #3.

In a few short years, since picking up the banjo, this young songwriter and bandleader went from playing rural Florida watering holes to performing on PBS alongside Alison Krauss and licensing music for the likes of Disney Pixar. Amazingly, Laney Jones' music career started as something of an accident. She picked up the guitar and began writing songs during college as a respite from the demanding academic curriculum working on an international business degree. Her aptitude as a singer and songwriter was instant. She soon found herself immersed in the roots scene as a rising young talent. Laney matriculated at the esteemed Berklee College of Music institution for a year and a half where she had the opportunity to study with singer-songwriter, record producer, and A&R executive Kara DioGuardi. Laney has received accolades from No Depression and L.A. Record, as well as the legendary Alison Krauss. As an unsigned artist, she's managed to grace the stage at New York's Lincoln Center and DC's Kennedy Center for the Arts, feature on PBS's Great Performances series, earn corporate sponsorships and licensing deals, and receive nationwide college radio spins for her original songs. Currently, her music is spinning in steady rotation on over 50 CMJ indie radio stations across the country, and her voice can be heard on soundtracks of films and TV from the likes of Disney and Dreamworks. Laney's also won many prestigious songwriting and new artist competitions, most notably the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

Welcome to El Caribefunk---an exotic fusion of Salsa, Funk, and Caribbean music, where undeniable rhythm and poetry express intense color and feeling. This band of Colombians has built a fervent underground following with over 4 years of nearly non-stop touring in the Americas. They've headlined festivals with acts like Bomba Estereo and Herencia de Timbiqui, were featured on NPR Music, played live on Colombian National Radio, and performed on numerous national television programs including TeleAntioquia and RadioUno, but can still be found playing casually in the plaza after a show or jamming with street musicians. Caribefunk's members began playing music as children in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia--first rock and funk, then inevitably the Afro-Latino music of their native Caribbean, where leather and wooden tambores (drums) and full-volume sound systems ring out in the sweltering tropical heat. By celebrating Cartagena's rich African-rooted music--historically cast aside as impoverished, pagan and contemptible--El Caribefunk's independent musical identity challenges expectation and bridges cultural divides. Whether or not you planned to, El Caribefunk's rhythm and positive energy will have you on your feet and dancing from the first note. In 2011 they released their first album, “Funk-Cho y El Caribefunker," and their 2014 release, “El Playaman," has been receiving international acclaim. The summer of 2016 will see their 3rd tour in the U.S. and their debut tour in Europe.

Liz Longley confides with you as though you're sitting on the sofa with her in a talk that's intimate and vulnerable. And now, the Berklee College of Music graduate and award-winning songwriter is set to share her confessional songs with listeners on her self-titled album—her first after signing with Sugar Hill Records in December 2014.While Longley's songs and vocals invite complimentary comparisons to Shawn Colvin, Paula Cole and Nanci Griffith—all artists she's supported live—her latest effort spotlights a style all her own. Her voice and tone, touched with the slightest of country inflections, pours out like clean, crystalline water. Longley first felt the magic while growing up outside of Philadelphia. A song she wrote in ninth grade—her first ever—earned a standing ovation when she performed it for the student body: “I was unprepared for that sort of reaction and it was life-changing moment,” she says. “That's when I knew it was what I wanted to do with my life.” The track record she's assembled since shows just how much Longley grew into her dream. She's taken home top prizes at some of the most prestigious songwriting competitions in the country, including the BMI John Lennon Songwriting Scholarship Competition, the International Acoustic Music Awards and the Rocky Mountain Folk Fest Songwriting Competition.

HARPETH RISING chose to name themselves after a river because water is both dynamic and
powerful. These words also describe the music created by the three women – Jordana
Greenberg (violin, vocals), Rebecca Reed-Lunn (banjo, vocals) and Maria Di Meglio (cello,
vocals). Unapologetic genre-benders, they fuse Folk, Newgrass, Rock and Classical into a
sound that is organically unique.
Hallmarks of their music include expansive three-part harmonies, consummate musicianship
and a deft, yet soulful lyrical perspective. Harpeth Rising's roots run deep – from their varied
ancestry across Eastern Europe to the musical hotbed of the Mid-South they now call home,
they weave together ancient and modern ideas, creating a sound that is both familiar and
impossible to categorize.
“We don't set out to create something different, we just write in a way that is true to ourselves
while trying to always expand and explore the new influences in our lives.” says Greenberg.
“We're aware of genre divisions, we're just not bound by them.”

Caleb Hawley is a multifaceted singer and songwriter, currently residing in Harlem of New York City. Citing his two greatest influences as Randy Newman and Prince, he leaves a lot of room for possibility in the genre spectrum.
Raised in Minneapolis by a family of preachers and therapists, Hawley's family fueled his on-stage charisma and perceptive, witty lyrics. “Growing up in an a capella church, we weren't allowed to use instruments. It forced everyone to learn how to sing harmony," Hawley says. “We mostly sang old hymns, which is probably what drew me to gospel and eventually soul music."
Hawley spent his early 20's touring the country with only an acoustic guitar and his dog Fargo. In those years, Hawley racked up hundreds of gigs, along with multiple songwriting awards for the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Telluride Troubadour Competition, SongCircle Contest and more. Nowadays, a full band heightens the energy of the live show across the country. “I used to love playing solo, in listening rooms," Hawley admits, “but as of late I prefer to get people thinking on their feet, rather than in a chair."

Near the end of Huckleberry Finn¸ Huck announces, “But I reckon I got to light out for the Territory ahead of the rest, because Aunt Sally she's going to adopt me and sivilize me, and I can't stand it. I been there before.” Through Huck's longing for the Territory ahead, Mark Twain transformed the ending of a story into an invitation that has come to define the American imagination. In his words we come to the conclusion of a story as one comes to the top of a mountain—to behold where we've been, and where we've yet to go.

The Show Ponies offer such vistas of the imagination on their newest EP, Run for Your Life (2014). Channeling the momentum of a few momentous years, founding ponies Andi Carder (lead vocals, banjo) and Clayton Chaney (lead vocals, bass) weave story and song with the same charm, pathos, and boldness that brought them from Texas and Arkansas to California where the Show Ponies were founded in 2011. Like so many iconic American voices over the generations, Carder grew up singing in church and performing in musical theater—musical heritage often apparent in performing what she likes to call “folk sassgrass.” Chaney's musical upbringing compliments Carder's sensibilities in drawing on the deep wells of country and folk. The themes of his songwriting echo his penchant for wanderlust: “Being on the road is the most exciting thing for me. I love waking up in a different place every morning.”
